We are the Hawaii section of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), the global scientific society dedicated to advancing the science of food. Our organization brings together food scientists, food technologists, nutritionists, engineers, and industry professionals from across the Hawaiian Islands to share knowledge, advance careers, and drive innovation in the food sector.
Our mission is to advance the science and technology of food in Hawaii by connecting professionals, supporting education, and promoting the application of food science for the benefit of Hawaii's communities and food industry. We envision a Hawaii where food science and technology play a central role in building a sustainable, safe, and innovative food system for the islands and the broader Pacific region.
Hawaii's food industry faces unique challenges — from food security and import dependency to the preservation of traditional Hawaiian food practices and the development of value-added local food products.
